Burrell School's origins date back to 1854 when Lyman Burrell settled the rough wilderness that is now home to winery and Estate wines. Carrying on the more than 130 year old tradition at the School, David and Anne Moulton started development of the Estate vineyard in 1973. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, crushed in small lots, and fermented with selected yeast strains.

Burrell School Vineyards takes pride in presenting the wines for tasting at the Vineyard and for purchase. The deep, opaque, almost black color followed by aromas of dark loganberries, cassis and licorice leave a lingering effect. A rich, textured mouth feel adds extra complexity. The Santa Clara Valley’s wineries share 75 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 percent merlot and 5 percent Cabernet Franc. The wineries from here feature tasting characteristics of currant and spice is followed by lush mid-palate flavors of red fruits. Mouth-feel is round and soft. Smooth tannins and bright fruit are indicators of wine ready to enjoy now.

Winemaking at Burrell School Vineyards is a dynamic process where diversity is created by tailoring vinification and cellar practices to the individual vineyard lots. Nevertheless, there is a crucial process that defines their idealistic approach and establishes a reference for maneuvers exclusively suited to each fermentation lot. The Burrell School’s aim is to extract and retain all of the color and flavor that is delivered in the grapes with quality taste that soothes the mind.
