Cuvaison Vineyards

California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country.

Cuvaison winery is located on the historic Silverado Trail in northern Napa Valley. In 1969 Thomas Cotrell and Thomas Parkhill founded Cuvaison with a 27-acre vineyard.  New York publisher Oakleigh Thorne purchased the winery in 1974 and then appointed the Swiss-born Philip Togni as Winemaker. In 1979, the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland purchased Cuvaison as well as 400 acres of main vineyard land in the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley.

Cuvaison expanded its vineyard holdings in 1998, augmenting its estate wines program with the purchase of the historic 170-acre Brandlin Vineyard in the Mt. Veeder range on the southwest side of the Napa Valley. Composed of harsh clay loam soil over shale, the vineyard lies on a saddle of a ridge of knolls with a variety of exposures.

Their second vintage of Estate Grown Sauvignon Blanc has a stunning balance of tropical and citrus fruit notes with undertones of wet stone and earth that are the telltale signs of a cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc. Lime, grapefruit, lemongrass and mango flavors are followed by gooseberry, kiwi fruit and green apple notes on the palate, a crisp minerality and a lingering lemony finish. They provide many other types of wine Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay Carneros, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah Carneros, Estate Selection Pinot Noir, and Estate Selection Chardonnay.

Cuvaison Estate Wines produces about 63,000 cases per year, 65 percent of which is Chardonnay. Cuvaison wines are distributed in all 50 states and are presented in over 25 international markets, first class airlines services. Approximately 20 percent of Cuvaison’s production is sold internationally each year.
