Jan Kris Winery

California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California's landscape is as diverse as its people. From foggy coastlines to dry endless deserts, lush green mountains to rolling hills of vineyards. A morning of snow boarding in the mountains and then ocean kayaking at sunset, this glorious Golden State offers it all.

JanKris Winery and Vineyards is a family owned estate winery located on the west side of the Paso Robles appellation in the area called as The Templeton Gap. Established in 1990 by Mark and Paula Gendron, daughters January and Kristin are both the company's namesakes and successors. The move to a more rural atmosphere was an exciting lifestyle change for the whole family, with Mark and Paula taking on the excitement of growing grapes and making wine. The two girls became enthralled with horses and with both girls holding degrees in agriculture and marketing, and a firm commitment to continuing the business, there will be many more decades of finely crafted, exciting JanKris wines.

JanKris wines are 100 percent estate grown. Blending the subtle differences of East and West side Paso Robles grapes, grown on the three JanKris properties. With 170 acres under vine, and duplicate varieties on 2 or 3 of the ranches, JanKris grows Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese, Petite Syrah, Petite Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Mouvedre, Chardonnay and Viognier labels.

The label is known for its mastery of unique blends such as the Picaro, Riatta and the Crossfire, a signature blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. Deemed, fruit-forward wines, JanKris wines exemplify the result of hand crafted expertise from planting and grafting, to growing and finally, bottling.

The tasting room is set amidst lawns, rose gardens, horses and unsurpassable views of rolling hills and vineyards. The property is a favorite setting for weddings and special events throughout the year and they have numerous awards to their name.

There are many wonderful famous as well as some not so well known areas in California Wine Country that are just right for an enjoyable day of wine tasting. It’s always best to get off the beaten track and find the other gold that still exists and enjoy the beautiful scenery along these wine trails in this beautiful State.
