Simi Winery

California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country.

Giuseppe and Pietro Simi founded Simi Winery in 1876. The brothers had traveled from Tuscany, Italy, to California during the Gold Rush and by 1876 had settled in San Francisco where they began making wine. When they discovered the rolling hills of Sonoma County, they were reminded of home. In 1881 they moved their winemaking operations to the little town of Healdsburg in northern Sonoma County, where they completed construction of Simi's first stone cellar in 1890.

Simi's unique vineyards are the genesis of their distinct wines. Their warm Alexander Valley Estate Vineyards are planted primarily to red Bordeaux varietals and are the source of Simi's Cabernet Sauvignon. These vineyards encompass nearly 600 acres and possess some of the most diverse soils of any wine-growing region, resulting from eons of geologic activity including a catastrophic landslide which changed the course of the Russian River. Complementing the Alexander Valley Vineyards, Simi's 120-acre Goldfields Vineyard in the Russian River Valley is the backbone of the Simi Chardonnay. Planted with a wide array of clones and field selections, Goldfields Vineyard is one of the most diverse vineyards in the Russian River Valley and all of California.
They manufactures seven different types of wines are Simi Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc, Simi Sonoma County Chardonnay, Simi Sonoma County Merlot, Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Simi Russian River Reserve Chardonnay, Simi Alexander Valley Landslide Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and Simi Alexander Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

Their friendly and knowledgeable staff is available to answer any questions as you taste their wines. After you wine-taste and shop, enjoy a Simi wine and a picnic in their 70 year old Redwood grove. With every taste of Simi wines you will discover their devotion to tradition that is enhanced by their pursuit of the best vineyards, the best grape-growing methods, and the best winemaking techniques.
