Canyon Lake

California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia.

Canyon Lake is a gated community in Riverside County, California, United States. In 2004, the population of the city was 11,161 and an area of 12.1 square kilometers. One of only five gated cities in California, Canyon Lake began as a master-planned community developed by Corona Land Company in 1968. The Lake initially was formed in 1927 after Railroad Canyon Dam was built. It covers 383 acres and has 14.9 miles of shoreline.

The community nestles around the shoreline of the lake; it’s not possible to be far from the water anywhere in Canyon Lake. There is an 18-hole golf course and equestrian center, tennis courts, numerous parks and beaches, a campground and many other amenities. Canyon Lake is both a city and a corporation of property owners.
