East Palo Alto is a municipality in San Mateo County, California, United States. In 2003, the population of the city was 31,915 and an area of 6.7 square kilometers. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula, roughly halfway between the cities of San Francisco and San Jose. To the east is the San Francisco Bay and to the west the prosperous city of Palo Alto. In the city the population was spread out with 35.0 percent under the age of 18, 13.4 percent from 18 to 24, 32.6 percent from 25 to 44, 14.0 percent from 45 to 64, and 5.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 26 years. For every 100 females there were 106.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.9 males.
