California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia.
 
Hawthorne is a city located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 84,112 inhabitants. Although incorporated as a city in 1922, Hawthorne is a part of the immense sprawl that amounts to the greater Los Angeles area.
 
Hawthorne is known to rock and roll fans as the home of Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. The Wilson brothers' boyhood home was demolished in the late 1980s during the construction of the Century Freeway, although it was honored by the dedication of the Beach Boys Historic Landmark in May 2005.
