California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. Redding is the county seat of Shasta County, California, USA, located on the Sacramento River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 80,865 inhabitants. A 2004 estimate reports the city's population as 88,700. There are even rumors that it is estimated in 2006 it reached 100,000, making it one of the fastest growing cities in the nation.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 154.4 square kilometers. As of the census of 2000, there were 80,865 people, 32,103 households, and 20,995 families residing in the city. The population density was 534.3 per square kilometers. The historic Cascade Theatre which opened in 1935 has been restored and now operates as a multi use performance Arts center.
