San Francisco is the second most densely populated major city in the United States.The earliest archaeological evidence of inhabitation of the territory of the city of San Francisco dates to 3000 BC. Ocean Beach runs along the Pacific Ocean shoreline, and Baker Beach occupies a picturesque setting just west of the Golden Gate Bridge. The estimated 2006 population of San Francisco is 798,680 inhabitants.
