California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. San Marcos is a city located in the northern portion of San Diego County, California, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 54,977. Outside the San Diego region, it is best known as the home of California State University, San Marcos.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 61.7 square kilometers. As of the census of 2000, there were 54,977 people, 18,111 households, and 13,221 families residing in the city. The population density was 893.4 per square kilometers.

San Marcos features several golf courses, notably Lake San Marcos itself a recreational venue. San Marcos borders Carlsbad, which offers an array of golfing and tennis. Other golf courses in the area include the Aviara and La Costa resort golf courses.

San Marcos is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in California worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of California.
