ONE OF THE LEGENDS OF TRIATHLON SPORT IS ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL FOR 2006
Triathlete Spencer Smith, the three time World Champion has just signed a 2 year sponsorship package that will see him race with cult bike international Company Planet X. One of the legends of the sport is alive and kicking and on the comeback trail.
After suffering a horrific training accident last year that put paid to his 2005 season and nearly forced him to quit the sport, Spencer is training hard and will be racing himself back into top shape ready for another tilt at the Hawaii Ironman in October this year. The provisional race program will see him kick off in the 70.3 series on 18 March in California, whilst Spencer does not expect to reach top form until later in the year, early season training is progressing well and his competitors will be watching with keen interest at his steady build up in performances. Part of the sponsorship deal with planet x will see Spencer not only racing their bikes, but also actively involved in the creation, development and testing of the companies future triathlon, products. With 15 years of experience, 3 World Championships and two Ironman victories to his name, Planet X will be be working with an athlete whose renowned no nonsense approach to the sport, has made him an iconic and much loved figure in the triathlon world.
