The land on which the Valley of the Moon Winery and Vineyards is situated has a memorable past. Once, it was part of the vast 48,000-acre Agua Caliente Land Grant owned by General Mariano Vallejo. The Parducci family continued to run Valley of the Moon Winery from the mid-1950s until March 1997 when the owners of adjacent Kenwood Vineyards purchased the business and property.
Historical research revealed that Valley of the Moon Winery has operated longer than any other winery in the Glen Ellen area. The key to the success was a marvelous amount of teamwork. The owners, winemaking team, architects, engineers, builders and artisans all collaborated in an almost mysterious way to make the new Valley of the Moon Winery.

At present, the Valley of the Moon Winery and Vineyards is distinguished by the marriage of its rich history with a state of the art wine production facility. Their estate vineyards are planted in the well-drained, rocky, red volcanic soil, characteristic of the southern Sonoma Valley.

The precise standards of quality control which they apply in the Valley of the Moon winemaking facilities actually originate in their estate vineyards.
