San Pedro Bay, part of the Pacific Ocean, lies to the southwest. To the northwest, just across the border of Los Angeles County, lies the city of Long Beach.

The second-longest pier in California is situated in Seal Beach and is used for fishing and sightseeing. There is also a restaurant named the Ruby's at the end of the pier.
